How to use
Each 1 kg of Jufeng matured microbial inoculum can process 6–8 tons of fresh livestock and poultry manure. To ferment 1 ton of manure, you’ll need 100 grams of Jufeng matured microbial inoculum, along with approximately 100 kg of rice husks or wood shavings, which should be thoroughly mixed into the manure before fermentation begins.
Note: Moisture regulation is crucial—maintain the moisture content of the mixed microbial culture at around 60%. To check, grab a handful of the composting material; it should form a firm clump when squeezed. When you toss the clump onto the ground, it should naturally break into 2–3 pieces—not remain intact as one solid mass.
Operating Procedures
(1) Preparatory Work
1. Weigh the livestock and poultry manure—or other materials—needed for fermentation. (For example, if fermenting one ton of manure, you can first weigh out 100 kg, estimate the approximate volume of one ton, then calculate the volume for 20 tons, and so on. Alternatively, you can weigh a single wheelbarrow load and determine the total weight based on how many wheelbarrows are used.)
2. For every ton and a half of livestock and poultry manure, 150 grams of Jufeng matured microbial inoculum is required. Mix the necessary amount of Jufeng inoculum with several kilograms of rice husks, wood shavings, or oilseed meal. (Wood shavings and rice husks are added to ensure the inoculum is evenly distributed throughout the manure.)
(II) Operating Procedures
1. Spread livestock and poultry manure evenly on an open area, breaking up any large clumps.
2. Take an even portion of the thoroughly mixed Jufeng matured microbial inoculum and sprinkle it evenly over the livestock and poultry manure, ensuring full contact between the Jufeng inoculum and the manure.
3. Livestock and poultry manure typically has a high moisture content, so it’s important to evenly spread complementary materials (such as rice straw or rice husks) over the surface of the farmyard manure to help regulate moisture levels. Aim to adjust the moisture content to around 60%—this means the material should form a loose clump when squeezed in your hand but easily crumble apart with a gentle flick. Under normal conditions, the weight ratio of livestock/poultry manure to supplementary materials is usually between 5:1 and 10:1. For example, for every 1,000 kg of farmyard manure, you’d add 100–200 kg of dry auxiliary materials.
4. Use a turning machine to mix and turn the compost pile (ensure that livestock and poultry manure, Jufeng matured microbial inoculum, and auxiliary materials are thoroughly blended and fully combined—there should be no large chunks remaining).
5. After mixing thoroughly, pile it onto the ground—no need to step on it or pat it down firmly.
Important Notes
1. The height of the compost pile for fermented livestock and poultry manure should be no less than 1.2 meters, with a width of at least 1.5 meters—though the length can be unlimited. 2. During fermentation, light rain is not a concern, but heavy downpours should be avoided to prevent water from washing away the material. 3. Alternatively, you can sun-dry the manure until it reaches a semi-dry state, then directly add microbial inoculants mixed with rice husks for fermentation. 4. Regularly turn the pile to accelerate the fermentation process and enhance moisture removal from the manure.
Fermentation effect
Within 48 hours, temperatures rapidly soared above 55°C, causing foul odors to gradually dissipate. Meanwhile, seeds of pests, diseases, and weeds began to perish one after another. A few days later, white mycelium emerged, spreading densely across the surface.
Qualification criteria: No large lumps, no impurities such as metal or stones, loose texture, no foul odor, product should be dark brown to black in color, and moisture content must be 25% or lower.
