How to handle chicken manure at a poultry farm
1.Composting Treatment
Chicken manure from the poultry farm can be used as compost.First,choose a well-lit,well-ventilated open area,clear away any debris,and then pile the collected chicken manure directly onto the ground.Allow it to sit for one to two months—when the manure turns dark,it means fermentation has been successful.
2.Biogas Feedstock
Chicken manure from poultry farms can be processed as a raw material for biogas production.Chicken manure has fine particles and is rich in low-molecular compounds,with a relatively high nitrogen content.When placed in a biogas digester and sealed for fermentation over time,the nitrogen in the manure is converted into a mixed gas—including methane and carbon dioxide—that can then be used as fuel.
3.Feed Processing
Chicken manure from poultry farms can be processed as animal feed.Collect fresh chicken manure,remove any impurities thoroughly,and then spread it out to dry in the sun for two to three days.Once the manure is completely dry,crush it into smaller pieces,mix it with energy-rich ingredients such as cornmeal and wheat bran,and stir everything together evenly.
4.Important Notes
When using chicken manure as biogas feedstock,ensure proper ventilation;otherwise,the concentration of gases like methane in the biogas digester may become too high,increasing the risk of explosions.Before using chicken manure as compost,pay attention to the temperature of the fertilizer—compost undergoing fermentation tends to get quite hot.Therefore,allow the compost to cool down to normal temperature before applying it to plants,to avoid scalding or damaging the vegetation.
